Ireland face Italy in Croke Park this evening in a world cup 2010 qualifier which i’ll be going to. Italy are current world cup champions and are undefeated in the group so far, like us.
A draw for them will be good enough to top the group and automatically qualify for the world cup next year in South Africa. It wouldn’t be a bad result for us either. This will be the biggest match Ireland have played in a long time, and certainly the biggest played at Croke Park.
Win, and we’re insured of at least a play off place which everyone would have taken before the group started. It’s not quite a must win game, but Ireland always play better going in as under dogs and up against big glamour sides…
