I’m not used to blogging about stats that are on a downward trend, but that’s what this post is all about. So far in 2010, traffic to this blog is down 15% on the previous year…
Traffic can’t keep rising forever, but i feel it’s too early in this blog’s life for it to stand still. I noticed the downward spiral late last year and that was one of the reasons for the blog’s revamp last month.
Since January 2nd, i’ve been blogging daily and last month i also started to include custom designs in each post just to makes things a little easier and prettier to read. However, despite all of that, traffic is still on the decline.
Why am i so interested in traffic or why do i care? Because i feel it’s a good acid test for how a blog is doing. Spikes in traffic here and there mean nothing and i’m aware of that but long term stats over years are always a very good indication of how a blog is progressing and generally, traffic should be increasing, not decreasing…
One of my goals for 2010 was to increase traffic to this blog and move yearly unique visits from 120k to 200k. I know it can be done and more importantly i can do it, so it’s important i start turning those minus signs in to positive ones pretty soon if i’m to achieve that goal by the end of the year.
