Yesterday i was at the Aviva Stadium for The Script’s ‘homecoming’ concert. I’ve about 200 photos uploading to flickr as i write this (some are shared below), plus i managed to get a video uploaded to youtube earlier…
Aviva as a concert venue
I’m used to being in the Aviva Stadium for football matches, but this was a first for me as a concert venue. The atmosphere was good but acoustics not so great, certainly not in the upper tiers where we were sitting. I remember reading about that before. Still, it was nice to see an Irish act, on Irish soil, sell out a 50,000 seater arena and put on a good show.
Greedy
One thing i noticed was that they confiscated bottles (plastic bottles) heading in to the stadium which is semi-understandable… it’s normal in some places as they can of course be used as weapons if you’re that way inclined. However, once inside the Aviva you can buy bottles of whatever you want no problem (with lids intact)… that makes no sense whatsoever and suggests they confiscate bottles on entrance simply to boost sales inside the stadium.
Tea? €2.50. 500ml bottle of water? €2. Carton of chips? €4. etc… etc… they could argue it’s a security thing and that’s the excuse for confiscating bottles… people could fill bottles with chemicals and pull an airline style plot but then again they don’t search people on entrance so somebody could easily conceal bottles in a coat or something if they wanted…
This looks like it was a great concert!
