Yesterday i noticed my twitter timeline was flooded with ‘RIP bebo’ tweets and lots of people throwing in their 2 cents on how & why Bebo died. I did some searches and a quick scan of all major tech sites – nothing. Within minutes, Bebo’s wikipedia page was edited stating this ‘fact’: “The website closed on 30th January 2012″…
It’s been a while since i last logged in to bebo. Months perhaps. And when i do login, it’s only to create blog posts like this one about how bebo has gone from being the new, cool kid on the block to the old, uncool reject….
2006. Social networking was myspace or bebo (if you were from the UK or Ireland). Facebook was virtually unheard of. Bebo, at least in Ireland, was growing rapidly… so rapidly it would eventually become the largest social network in the country. Bebo was growing rapidly in the UK & Australia too….
