Jurys Hotel Croke Park

Last night, i stayed in the Jurys Croke Park Hotel. I’d been in it several times before and was impressed. This time was no different. It was the first time i’d seen the hotel without a few thousand people in and around it on matchdays

Upon check in, i was told i had €25 credit to spend on anything i wanted… ok then if you say so 🙂 I’m not sure where that came out of or why i was given it – i didn’t want to question it either. Perhaps it was a special offer or some sort of midweek bonus they offer or something – i’m not sure.

We also arrived at check in soaked. The weather was dreadful yesterday and only slightly better today. Rain, dark skies and puddles everywhere.

The rooms were nice and big with a 26″ lcd, slimline cd player and free wired internet access. The internet access didn’t work in our room. After about 10 minutes of trying to configure IP’s and change connection settings, i realised the cable hidden underneath the desk was plugged out 🙄 I plugged it back in but still no joy.

They had free wireless internet access downstairs in reception / bar so i was never stuck – i’m pretty sure i was just unlucky with wired connection in my room. I watched the first half of the Utd match in their bar/restaurant whilst getting something to eat with that €25 credit  They have a nice big projector in there and comfortable leather seats.

For the 2nd half i retired to my room – the hotel have both skysports (1, 2 & 3) and setanta, plus all the regular freeview channels.

Breakfast this morning was grand – typical breakfast stuff really – no problems, no shortages, nothing i would change. Staff all friendly (and plenty of them about come to think of it!).

I paid €96 (incl room & breakfast for 2) and got €25 in credit so all in all, i couldn’t have gotten a better deal. It’s a very nice, high end 4* hotel. The only thing that lets it down is it’s location. Right beside Croke Park which is about a 15 minute walk to O’ Connel Street – not very pleasant in the rain 😉
