I spent a while figuring out how to title this post and then i thought i’d tell it as it is…. pretty much everything i do these days is for a portfolio. I still haven’t gotten around to updating my portfolio section on this site, but i am working on it…
Although i never think about my portfolio when i’m working on sites, it is one of the major hidden motivators swirling around somewhere in the back of my mind. Over the past 24 hours or so, here’s what i have been working on or talking about working on (which also constitutes ‘work’ in my eyes)…

Today, i spent a few hours in total messing around with passwords and moving sites back and forth in preparation for the long summer of development work ahead. Chromeguide.com got upgraded & moved to an irish server… no new content but it’s been cleaned up a lot on the back end (updates all plugins, wordpress, theme etc…). I hope to get cracking with content shortly and dust the cobwebs off it.

iwantideas.com was being spammed to the brink of collapse so i decided to nuke it and start from scratch with pligg 1.0.4 which is a major step up from the older version of pligg i was using. It’s proving slightly trickier than i imagined to get right, so as of now it’s still a building site but i hope to get it all back to normal by the time i got to bed tonight. If it’s not up tonight, it’ll be sorted tomorrow.

this wasn’t a site i had intended working on at all this summer, but it’s now turning in to partnership and getting the green light from me and i’m actually very excited about it now. With hindsight, this is how it *should* have been from the very start. You’ll see what i mean once it goes live but that will be a long way off yet. Most of these sites are long term works in progress.

The leaving cert starts on june 9th for irish students, so our traffic is at its peak at this time of year. I’m not too active on the site itself but i am trying to really beef up our presence on facebook. Once the leaving cert is over, i’ll be spending a lot of time working on this site trying to take it forward for the next school year. Social media will play a huge role in that progress so i suppose i’m just warming up…
New project
Previously i said there’d be no new projects this summer, unless they were as part of a partnership. I’m sticking to that, but i am working on another new partnership project. This one is exciting as it’s simple, custom built & custom designed. I think it has potential but there is a danger it might to too simple to work, we’ll see how it progresses…
