A couple of days ago i blogged about how i wanted to get away for a bit, just to give me something to look forward to. I do have a week off after the bank holiday, so obviously that’s something to look forward to, but i associate ‘holiday’ with going away so i have to make that connection otherwise i just end up wasting my time wishing i had gone away somewhere 🙄
I also mentioned the fact i have very high standards and expensive tastes when it comes to hotels. After several hours of browsing about, i finally booked 2 nights away in 2 different hotels, both in Dublin.
The first is ‘The Clarion IFSC‘, on the docks overlooking the river liffey. I’ve always had my eye on it as it’s in a nice quiet location yet a few minutes away from the centre. It’s a modern 4* with a nice leisure centre so that swung it for me.
The second is a brand new Hilton Hotel in Kilmainham. Only opened in May. It gets good reviews anywhere i look and although it’s a little out of the way, i can just hop on a luas and walk maybe 10 minutes after that to get to it. As we all know Hilton’s have a good/luxury reputation so this is less of a gamble. Again it has a leisure centre which looks stunning and is only open so all should be nice and ‘new’.
The Hilton is close enough to Dublin Zoo so we’ll probably head there for a while (haven’t been since i was a child, like 12/13 years ago). The rest of the time will be spent chilling out/shopping/swimming/in a jacuzzi. Both hotels look to be pure luxury so i hope you’re all nice and jealous now 😈
Total cost: €272 (2 people, room only). Expensive, but any half decent hotel in any city will cost the guts of €100/night, so for a bit extra we get that luxury. And as i always say there’s no point in staying somewhere which is of a lower standard than your bedroom 😉
