Eurovision 2010 Flashmob Interval Act

eurovision 2010

Last night the 54th Eurovison song contest took place in Oslo, Norway. It was the first Eurovision i half-watched in years and it was pretty impressive. No Lordis or Dustins… a lot of entries actually trying to sing seriously. The only reason i had it on was because it was all twitter was talking about.. so curiosity got the better of me…

At the start, Spain’s entry was invaded by some random guy from the audience… they kept performing but got to sing all over again at the end for their troubles. Hearing a eurovision song once is usually enough…

What impressed me most though was the interval act – A european wide flashmob dancing to Madcon’s new song ‘Glow’. Flashmobs are always great entertainment when executed right and considering this was recorded in various different cities & locations (some live) it went pretty smoothly. It helps that the song is pretty catchy too.

In the end, Germany won. Not surprising really. They’re about the only country that can afford to stage next year’s eurovision (the winner always gets to host next years event). Plus they’ve already bailed out Greece and will no doubt come to the aid of others… nobody wants to vote against Germany these days

The winner was a 19 year old called Lena… catchy enough song but not sure about the accent… in parts it changes and doesn’t sound very natural and in fairness it’s not… German singing in english…

Ireland finished 3rd from last. That sounds bad but considering we haven’t even qualified for the final in the past few years, i’d say it’s been a success 🙂 We’re the liverpool of Eurovision… we can say we’ve won it more than anyone but our future prospects look bleak 😉 Maybe next year will be our year…

  1. I didnt get to watch the Eurovision at all this year, not that i usually do. But this year i didnt even know it was on until just last night when the final was on!

Have to say though, Ireland definitly bounced back this year from last years terrible act, Dustin!, even though we didnt win it was a good attempt.

  2. yeah it's a pity the guys from father ted didn't enter 'my lovely horse'… would have been a lot funnier than a turkey!
