Eircom (Ireland’s largest ISP) have yet again crumbled this evening following another DOS attack. This has happened not once, not twice, not three times, but now 4 TIMES in the last 6 weeks alone.
On September 1st, Eircom blocked thepiratebay.org – the first site ever blocked / censored by an Irish ISP. We also found out there was a more sinister story to that blocking as the Irish Times reported last week;
The telecoms and broadband provider also revealed that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with EMI Records, Sony Music, Universal Music and Warners to develop a new online music service.
So eircom are not having a good time at the minute and i doubt anyone will have an ounce of sympathy for them. They’ve buckled under pressure from the music industry, whilst other ISPs have stood firm. These DOS attacks are resulting in downtime for customers which is fine if it’s a one off and lessons are learned…
But lessons are clearly not being learned… the damage has been done and i wouldn’t be surprised if Eircom have a flood of customers leaving them this week….
here here! Leave them to their inadequacies!
