I’d been trying priceline for a few days now for a City Centre hotel for Thursday (3 days time).
Normally, you can’t beat priceline’s service. Usually they knock about 30-50% minimum off rack rates.
But Dublin is a little complicated with Priceline… for starters they locate some hotels Northside, when in fact they are Southside. There’s also a big difference within areas.. i.e ‘Dublin South’ apparently includes the Conrad Hotel which is in St. Steven’s Green, and the Radisson SAS St Helen’s which is about a 20 minute BUS journey out of the city in the middle of nowhere.
Add in the fact $110 ($130 incl taxes) wasn’t getting me anything and i was becoming a little frustrated. So i raided tripadvisor and all the irish travel sites and eventually stumbled upon the Comfort Inn Smithfield for €89. It’s ranked #6 out of 186 on Tripadvisor plus it’s right beside a LUAS stop and a 10minute walk from the city centre.
So a nice bargain, even without Priceline 😉 On a sidenote, it has rained for something like 56 consecutive days in Ireland and hotels are starting to slash their rates as everyone is heading abroad on holidays
