Ireland were beaten 2-0 by Brazil in Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, London last night. I was at the match. The day went something like this…
Up at 4am. Flight at 9am to Heathrow from Dublin. Underground from Heathrow to Hotel (we stayed in the Thistle Marble Arch hotel). I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking….
As expected, we were outplayed by Brazil. They were taking it easy too… for a 10 or 15 minute spell in the second half, they stepped things up a gear and tore us to shreds with their movement, pace and intelligence on the ball.
The stadium as you can see from the pictures above, wasn’t anywhere near capacity which was disappointing. Exactly 2/3’s full, or 1/3 empty depending on how you want to look at it 🙂 The vast majority were Brazil fans or neutrals cheering for Brazil, which left the Irish outnumbered and outclassed off the pitch too.
Still, it was nice to get over to the match, see the Emirates Stadium and see Brazil in action. A change of scenery on a Tuesday from a college lab or lecture room
