I don’t know about you guys, but i spend any free time i have on the internet.
My broadband went down for two hours one night recently and i didn’t know what to do with myself. I don’t really watch TV unless there’s football on or a good movie.
TV nowadays is just American teen drama programmes, re-runs of Friends or Simpsons episodes, news that gets re-hashed about 20 times every hour on those news channels… it’s all a bit boring and stale for my liking. On the net, i get new content daily, and almost hourly… it has me spoilt.
Of course, i use the net for both business and pleasure and most of the time, would regard everything i do on the net as both
The great things is (or scary thing depending on who’s side you’re on) is that the internet is only really getting started. Online video is still crap – let’s face it. The quality is brutal, we can’t really figure out a way to blend ads with them, and they’re not that easy to edit and upload.
That’s one huge area that will develop over the next 10/20 years – speed.
Social networking (in the myspace sense) is only really a few years old. It has yet to be really cracked and integrated with life imo. The whole private network/VOIP/video conferencing thing will surely be used in social networking down the line when the speed is there.
Then we have the web 3.0 thing- whatever that is. More 3d graphics? More gloss? Retro style? Users/Members owning and controlling websites? Ok, all of this stuff may be happening at the minute, but it’s all init’s infancy, and one thing’s for sure… things can only get better and faster 😈
Are you not a gamer Sean? If my internet goes down, i turn to my PS3 until it’s back on. Congrats on breaking the 50 subscriber mark.
No, i try to stay away from games.. i have a PS2 and sort of got addicting and found my time just whizzing by.
One day i just said to myself i have to stop and not play games until i can actually afford to
So don’t encourage me… the PS3 and xbox 360 are mighty tempting but i try to keep myself working rather than playing in the hope it will all pay off one day 😆
Get out of this shitty country if you want any decent net speeds. Eircom owning the lines leaves everyone royally fucked if your in a residential area.
Just to let you know web 3.0 is mobile internet …… I think.
