5 days to switch to Meteor…

meteor.JPG

A while ago, i blogged about how i was probably going to switch to meteor from o2 after 5 years of loyal service.

Meteor’s 25c package (25c calls anytime day or night), with free texts to other meteor numbers and free calls to a best friend is just too tempting.

Ok, you need to top up by €20/month, but that means my credit will build up as i won’t be using it.. so 6 months down the line, i’ll probably have €80 credit or so and i can afford to go 3 or 4 months without topping up and just eat into that credit 😀

That means the free texts and free call to a friend will be put on hold until i top up by another €20, but i’ll have €80 credit so i won’t care and can simply top up by €20 once that runs out. This superb offer ends on June 30th 2007. 5 days away. The offer is for life, so i’ve got 5 days to hop on board.

So i have now until saturday to go in to a shop and change over my number. The only thing is that i’ve 600 texts left on my current number plus €3 credit (combined worth of about €33 👿

My number at the minute is what is known as a ‘gold’ number as it’s easy to remember…

These sort of numbers sell on ebay regularly to one men businesses who want something that their customers can remember or write down quickly.. so simply leaving my number to rot away in a drawer is a bit of a waste.. however…

I’ll probably just keep the number and lose the credit – cut my losses. It will save my in the long run. Plus it will be less hassle for family and friends / other contacts as my number won’t change. It’s probably the best solution although it will cost me over €30 😡
Anyway, i’ve acted as a Meteor salesman for the past few days and have convinced 7 people now to make the switch (family and close friends who i contact the most). Little do they know it, but it could save us all hundreds in the long run.. So provided they switch before Saturday (and i’ll go in myself and do it for them if they don’t), it means we can text each other for free.

So make the switch and get over to Meteor. Free texts, or 5c calls for life – no other network can touch that at the minute. The only thing stopping people from switching to meteor is the fact none of their friends is on meteor, so do what i’ve done and sit them all down and tell them exactly how much they’ll save 😎 It’s a bit of hassle going in and switching numbers, getting new sims etc.. but worth it in the end.

Another issue why people don’t join meteor is the fact they are too lazy to check into it and sit down and examine their bills. You have to spoonfeed some people and do it for them. Tell them the catches, tell them the drawbacks, compare the price plans and if they’ve any sort of a brain at all, they’ll work it out for themselves.

I’ll probably just keep the number and lose the credit – cut my losses. It will save my in the long run. Plus it will be less hassle for family and friends / other contacts as my number won’t change. It’s probably the best solution although it will cost me over €30 😡

Think of it like this – if everyone in the country was on meteor, the whole country could text each other for free. How much would that save you? 😉

  1. If everyone in the country was on Meteor, there would be no other service provider and therefore no masts so we wouldn’t be able to call or text anyone as Meteor haven’t bothered to do the one important thing: create an infrastructure. Yes, it means that they can reduce call charges but it also means that their position – and, by extension, the position of their customers is precarious. While you’re lecturing people on being too lazy to check their bills, you might want to look a little further into your chosen network. Vodafone and O2 will remain the market leaders because they have gone about their business in the correct way.

  2. This offer is still on!! I switched from 02 to meteor yesterday..and my best friend did too..i think this is a great idea and will defintaly save me money!! 02 were very good about unbloking my phone so i could switch…however vodafone gave my friend alot of hassle and still hasnt unlocked her phone..(o2 unlocked mine and i was a meteor customer in 2hrs)

I am on a mission now to get all my friends to switch..!! Its already saving me money as before on 02 i used to top up by at least 50 euro on pay as you go… 😯 …now its just 20euro..dont know why i didnt switch over before now!!

Meteor aslo txt you and tell you who has been trying to ring you when your phone was off or out of covrage (as you cannot tell who it was if they didnt leave a voicemail)

    Well..so..do what ya’s want!! But for your average 16 year old girl..this is ideal!! 😉 🙂 😛
